Humanity's Best

A client at work today, who spoke barely any English, came up to the register. She had about 27 dollars worth of merchandise with her. She got to about 14 something when she stopped me cause she had to check and see if she had enough. A line started to form. She only had 14 dollars. The man behind her, a complete stranger speaking only English, said "how much does she need?" I said "I'm not sure. We haven't even scanned everything." He grabbed the basket and put the rest of her things on the conveyor belt and said "go ahead, I've got it". She declined several times but he would not take no for an answer. She kept thanking him, and trying to at least pay me the fourteen she originally had. He wouldn't let her pay a cent, not even for a single bag. She could only repeat "God bless you" and he insisted it was no problem. The absolute amazement on her face was astounding. I keep thinking about it, almost crying. Some people in this world do things that seem so little but they amaze me.

Unexpected Gifts

I got a lovely pair of earrings today. They're big and dramatic and I love them. If today's picture had been sparkly, I would've used these earrings. I got the earrings as a gift from a lady at church. She said they were a gift for the special I did. Seriously? Because I sang she felt the need to buy me jewelery?! What?!?! How sweet is that?!! Not sweet like cool, but literally kind and generous and loving. That's so darling of her. And it makes me feel so happy that she would feel so strongly about it. My heart is soaring because I did a thing for God and so many people loved it. EEP.

Change of Pace

Yesterday, an interaction made me feel like someone at work may not like me so much. Which is fine. Different personalities meet sometimes and that's okay. I am not everyone's cup of tea and I should not expect to be. There are plenty of people I feel that way about and I can still be completely civil towards them. This honestly does not affect the work environment at all and I can count it as just another experience. But of course, me being me, I started to kinda be hyper self-aware and wonder about what I might be doing wrong and who else might dislike me. It's silly, but it's very me. Well today, the new kid in the store was actually very kind to me. And we joked a lot today. He also went out of his way to start conversations with me. And it just felt really nice! I love meeting new people and making new friends. And it just makes work so much easier when you feel like it's a safe environment and you can be comfortable with the people around you.

ALSO. After two weeks of working there,
and me wondering why 97.1 is not playing certain songs,
SHUT UP AND DANCE CAME ON.
TWICE!!!
That song never fails to pump me up, oh my goodness
