10-21-15
We are working with the world's best team. I don't know if my Jan Term will be possible for me because I can't afford the class AND the festival. Turns out that auditing, aka taking the class for free, means you don't get housing. I thought that meant I couldn't go. I was pretty sure that was the end and I'd have to be okay with not going. But Elizabeth immediately emailed Res Life and basically said "I need these people here". There's no guarantee it'll work, but the office is already working on it and pulling all the strings they can. I'm very blessed to work with the people I am working with.

The Return of Mermaids!
Today I decided that professors who had not previously seen their mermaid versions which were created way back in June should get the chance to view themselves. Nick DePinto saw his mermaid and just laughed because it's so spot on. Gené sat through every single mermaid, absolutely loving the accuracy. It was such a fun time. She also said that her daughter mentioned me! Saying that I'd be perfect for a role in her dad's show. For numerous reasons, that isn't possible. But how super sweet is that? I love that family. Mermaids for everyone!

Showing Us Up
I think my life is just being shown up by these BAMF older women who got game. Back in high school, it was my aerobics teacher. At Relay for Life, it was the awesome lady leading Zumba. Today, and for most of this semester, it is my yoga instructor. She's hilarious and sweet and SO FREAKING DIESEL. No but actually. She's awesome. And I dunno how she makes her body do that stuff. Impressed. I'm pumped for this semester, man.

Day Off
Work told me not to come in today! They apparently can't get the computers to work? So they're all just doing filing work. Meaning they don't need me today. Which does mean I don't get paid BUT it also means that they will get ahead in the work WHICH WE NEED and next week when I go in, I will be able to keep up with all the stuff they give me :) It does a lot more good this way, I swear.
ALSO. That means I went to my class today (sort of kind of class it's a long story). Our stinky teacher was not present. Instead, we had a guest speaker. Her name is Lady Dane. She's a freaking queen. She taught us about African Dance Rituals and Gender Studies. I adore her. She's everything I want to be in life. A wonderful dancer and a kind, understanding, passionate, funny, sassy person. I wish she was our teacher instead. And learning about all the dances was so cool.

Got Dis
Reason 184: It's a great feeling getting to have classes with all your friends who you adore so dearly. It's an even greater feeling when all your teachers are awesome and, when they show you the syllabus, you can respond confidently. Classes that challenge me are what I look for, and believe me, even as arts classes these will not be such a breeze. BUT I'll be all the better for it, and I know that I'm going to have SO much fun this semester. Here's to self-improvement, education, and the happiness that is the life of a theatre kid.
ALSO, it's icy. People are falling over and shizz.

I Know Where I've Been
Reason 32: Nostalgia. Maybe it's the fact that Storm (one of the besties) moved to college today. Maybe it's because my math class reminded me entirely of Mrs. Havener (my math teacher junior year). Maybe it's because Jonathan (the bff) texts me all the time. Maybe it's because Hairspray's first rehearsal was today (SO FUN!) and I kept reconnecting to S.T.A.G.E's version of the show. But I keep thinking about AEHS. I kinda miss high school. And I don't think it's a bad thing. I think I'm blessed to have carried such a positive experience with me. I'm happy here. I'm happy there. It's a lot of happy.
Skillet! Now THAT is a flashback mode. Middle school, man!
