Big Little Date!

Unintentional, actually, but it all worked. My Little is flawless and I enjoy her company oh so much. Mariah made TONS of pita bread for Mandy which is really cool. Slash impressive. And Mandy and I watched more My Little Pony! She has all of Season 5 to watch now, and this season has some of the best episodes (IMHO), so she's in for a treat. I also gave her the first 17 volumes of Fruits Basket. As I type this, she is starting volume 2. It is, as you may remember, one of my FAVORITE series of all time and I really think she will enjoy it. Maybe get too attached, if she's anything like me, 'cause I was NOT ready to leave this world once I finished the books. But it'll give her warm fuzzies, and teach some really important lessons. I'm glad she's willing to give it a try, and seems to like it. Cookies were made. I finished One Day. Happy times all around.

And as a side note RWBY WRECKED MY LIFE TODAY so this was much needed

I also saw Torreke as The Nutcracker today and the whole experience was so beyond beautiful. I am so immensely proud of my mentee and his incredible gift. And I'm so happy for him because his mommy finally got to see him perform while in Maryland :) (They are from Georgia, so this was quite a trip for her, but she said it was more than worth it).

11-1-15

My favorite thing is watching other people fall in love with the things you love. Earlier in the day, Mariah was playing a game called The Wolf Among Us which I played with John last year and became obsessed with. It's so cool to see her get invested in this story and watch all the decisions she makes. Also, after our meeting, Paul was watching RWBY season 2, and getting super into it. I got so excited rewatching all my favorite scenes and hearing that amazing soundtrack again. Ahh yes.

Good to be Herd

Get it? It's a pun. Like heard. But also part of the herd. Kay.

My Little Pony released it's 100th episode today. It was incredible. Because not only was it COMPLETELY about the background ponies, but they kept fanon names, included cool music, made jokes about the "slice of life" genre as opposed to the action and adventure genre in regular MLP episodes, AND made Doctor Who references! I'm so proud of them. Seriously. Why wouldn't everyone want to fall in love with a show by a team that listens to their fanbase? Flawless.

6-8-15 (BY ONE MINUTE, UGH)

My Little has already watched as many Studio Ghibli movies as I have. She has learned about the magic that is Carrie Hope Fletcher. And NOW she is starting My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. OOOH it's so exciting. I just love when people get into new fandoms and explore new worlds. Those are my favorite kinds of journeys.

Happy Best Friend Day to my absolute best friend in the whole wide world.
Family is family, and I know my girls are always there for me.
But what you and I have will always be so special to me <3

Right Back At It Again

Happy 12th Anniversary, Rooster Teeth! Congratulations on all the lives you've touched with your amazing creativity and beautiful hearts. Today was the public release of Episode 1 of Season 12 of Red vs Blue. So good. Soooo goood. I can't tell you how much I missed these characters. But you know what else I've missed? This community. The conspiracy theories. The excitement and group fangirling. I live for it. And it is back in my life :D And this time, I have someone to physically watch it with me! Hooray for Moises.

Point of No Return

In several shows or novels, there is a formula. It starts with exposition, obviously. Sometimes, this is very exciting exposition that gets you invested right away, like in Game of Thrones. Sometimes, the exposition just warns you about how bad the rest of the story will be, like Fifty Shades of Grey. But they all have a climax. That moment. The point of no return. The moment where, after all that exposition, no matter how good or bad it is, you are invested and you need to see the story through. For Game of Thrones, that is the finale of Season 1. For Fifty Shades of Grey, that's Chapter 8. For Red vs Blue, that is Season 6 Chapter 16. And Moises got there tonight. I couldn't be more excited for him :) This is what makes it all come together. AHH!

Score 1 Team Avatar

So earlier this year my mom saw me watching a few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. She watched a bit and kinda got into it. I told her I thought she'd really enjoy it (especially since she was my buddy for watching My Little Pony AND Yu-Gi-Oh back in the day). So we've started watching the series from the very beginning this summer. She's enjoyed it so far! And she's just hit Book 2.

Today, she mentioned that they shouldn't have added Azula. I told her Azula does a lot of good for the story. She said, "I know, but she really makes me hate her! And I don't like it. 'Cause it's a cartoon. I'm not supposed to have these feelings."

Anyone. Who enjoys cartoons and anime. Or just falls hardcore into any fictional world fandom. Knows the impact of those words. I consider this a victory.

Normal People Shun Us

Reason 221: Normal people took this snow day to romp about outside and tube down our giant hill. Aside from using this day to catch up on my endless piles of homework (Hallelujah!) I, not only talked to some dear friends and worked on spring break plans, but I did this.
