The Couples That Last

We took several minutes of our rehearsal today just to listen to Nick talking about his wife. It was adorable. Oh my goodness he lit up talking about her. And it wasn't like all smitten and cutesy? He laughed at her silliness and complimented her good points and really just genuinely saw so many great things about her and was so happy to be with her. He, like, loves talking about her because she is so fascinating to him. How lovely is that?

Day 11: Fuzzy
Meet Demetrius, another member of our stuffed and lovable family

PS: Carrie has two new songs. One with her boyfriend, and one about an ex. And both are very dear to my heart for very different reasons.

Heroes Like Hercules

(Honey you mean HUNKules)
Hero (according to dictionary.com): noun. 1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. 2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.

My heroes
  1. My sister who fights for what she believes in, doesn't conform to the ideas of others, takes on so much but gets it all done, and is a great person/sister/mother.
  2. Mr. Rodgers who saw that there was no positivity in the television of his time and thought there should be a show that inspired people to be good and kind, so he made one. And rather than adapt a persona, he was a genuinely caring soul who was fascinated by the world around him and loved absolutely everyone, showing kindness to families all over the country.
  3. Walt Disney, not a man free of his bad points mind you. But someone who went through a hard childhood and serious depression issues, and still dedicated his life to bringing joy and magic to others. Not only did he succeed, but that happiness touched people all over the globe for numerous generations.
  4. Hayao Miyazaki who has a gift for storytelling. A true visionary, he sought to inspire the world to believe in purity, bravery, love, and magic. Furthermore, he inspired many young girls that they could be the heroes of their own stories.
  5. Lin-Manuel Miranda who created In the Heights after many years of study and writing to perfect his craft. He pursued his dream in the arts, which many people, especially people of color, struggle to do, and he worked until he made it, and continues to create and inspire. For a long time, West Side Story was the only representation Latin Americans had on Broadway. Not that it's bad, it's my favorite show. But it's still only a show about a gang written by a Jew. For the first time, Miranda took the Hispanic voice and made it come to life with our stories, our language, and our music. He "made a hat where there never was a hat. It's a Latin hat at that".
  6. Carrie Hope Fletcher who makes youtube videos. She loves so passionately. Her childlike spirit and love for Disney is incredible. She works and works to accomplish her dreams, and has been playing her dream role of Eponine in Les Miserables for over two years now after wishing on stars for 12, among other great roles, and has released her first book, reaching number one non-fiction for several weeks. Despite her hardships, she strives to be a source of light and optimism for herself and those around her. She fell in love with an abusive, disgusting person who did not deserve her, and she dared to want better for herself. She fought and fought to rid herself of this person and, after much struggling, she was able to kick him out of her life for good. She could now prioritize her mental health and her emotions, which was a huge inspiration to me at a time when I needed to do the same.
All these people are my heroes. And not a single one had to go to a different country carrying a gun in order to change my life. The happy news is that Carrie posted this today on her blog. And it's so simple and sweet, but it means the world. I could rave for hours about how much I admire her. I aspire to be like her. She truly is a brilliant light and I cannot express enough how glad I am to see that she is shining once again. There is no one more deserving.

Life With Lindo

Reason 324: Pancakes for breakfast. Pupusas for lunch. AW YEAH, good eatin'!

12 years ago, Carrie Hope Fletcher played Young Eponine in Les Miserables in London's West End.
Today was her first performance in her dream role as Eponine. I'm so incredibly proud and happy for her.

You Go, Kid!

Reason 321: This girl comes in all the time with her friends. She's obviously in middle school. She's super sweet, makes nice conversation. Today she an her friend were excited 'cause they finished their last day of school. I called them lucky. So they asked what grade I was in, and I said college. She asked if I got any scholarships, so I told her I got a few. She came right next to me and said, "I'm gonna need a high five for that!" She and her friend then asked me to teach them the Cup Song. This little girl knows what's up! Yay for a brighter future :)

The Cup Song as I know it. Whoops. (Just taught them the moves of course)

Trial and Error. And Error. And Error.

Reason 253: I finished my homework early today! So guess what Jess & I are learning :)
She's wonderful. Someday we hope to do something like THIS

Normal People Shun Us

Reason 221: Normal people took this snow day to romp about outside and tube down our giant hill. Aside from using this day to catch up on my endless piles of homework (Hallelujah!) I, not only talked to some dear friends and worked on spring break plans, but I did this.

Gettin' Creative

Reason 161: I went to Color Me Mine for the first time today! And oh my gosh, I had way too much fun. Eric made a monster bank, Karla made a Snoopy & Woodstock bank. I made a 30 Seconds to Mars plate, which I'll show you once I get it back from the shop. It wasn't all that great or anything, but I'm still happy 'cause I'm glad that I made it. I love being artsy and creative! Mind you, I'm not that visually artistic, so I enjoy pretending to be and have a great appreciation for people who are. It's so relaxing and cool! I'm plotting to go again, but first I need someone willing to take me hehe. -sigh- Storm already said no. C'est la vie!

Let's talk about shipping!

1st off, I ship Dan and myself. Is that allowed? Can I do that?

2nd, I am actually against shipping people in real life because I feel it's disrespectful. And, though the entire flippin world ships these two together, I never have because I don't like making assumptions and feel that if it were the viewers' business to know what happens, then we would already know. Besides, people who ask constantly annoy me. It's not like you're invited to their wedding, calm down. BUT, then this video was released. And I thought it was just way too cute. And I can't handle the cute!

Say No To Effort!

Reason 158: I kid about the title. But the reason is I'm realizing that everybody is going back to school so early! Seriously, I think Storm & I are the only ones with breaks as long as ours are. And I love it! I mean, I am excited to go back, but I'm loving this free time. I can sleep in, wear comfy clothes, and look a mess while jamming out to random songs and yelling at movies and catching up on my anime list. Best life! And I enjoy that I can spend time with people I love!

People I still have to see (mostly so I can keep note of it all):
  • Naruto day(s) with Alex
  • Princess & the Frog with Charlotte & Margie
  • Ice Cream with Jason
  • Something with Storm
  • Marathon day with Eric
  • Something with Evan
  • Something with Spencer
  • Daria day with Diana
  • Baking day with the girls from our youth group
  • Visit AEHS (??)
  • Spend basically every other day with Karla :)
Buy textbooks and get a permit? Psh, nah! (She says sarcastically)
But in the meantime, I shall watch my favorite youtubers enjoying their holidays as well!
Heads up, Dan is mine <3
(Part of her 12 days of Christmas series. A video every day, yay! Also, you should actually click your predicted winner at the end hehe)

Reminders

I had a few ideas for what I might blog about today. A beautiful Interactive Theatre class with people who have become like family to me. A stroll with John that, for no good reason, put me in a good mood. My excitement for registration tonight. New, wonderful music in my life. To name a few. But then I watched this. And it's struck something in me. And I feel it has to be shared.

Reason 110: I know who I am, even if I forgot for a little while. But I'm coming back, I promise :)

Let's Get Wise and Harmonize

Reason 10: Musical morning. Jam session all day. But I've been pretty heavily focusing on songs that have interesting harmonies to them, such as Pentatonix's cover of Payphone by Maroon 5. I like listening to wonderfully talented people. I'll get there someday, God willing. Until then, we jam sesh in the bedroom until there's no more voice hehe.

ALSO you might have seen these guys during the Olympics?
They're Wenlock & Mandeville! The mascots of the London 2012 Olympics! And it just so happens that one of the youtubers I follow (Carrie Hope Fletcher aka ItsWayPastMyBedtime) and her brother (Tom Fletcher, lead singer of the band McFly) sing the official theme for these guys! And they have some nice simple harmonies, too ^_^
