These girls' gifts are done. The shopping is close to finished. We basically know what we want for decorating on Sunday. Filming is finished. Editing is halfway done. My video is up. I did the laundry. Things are getting done. Tomorrow will be lots of fun.

My mommy went to a hiring event today! She says it went pretty well. It was fairly quick for her. You know her resume is pretty impressive. She's got lots of experience. She's certainly got the qualifications. I don't know if they will give her the job. Seriously, I mean how could I know? But I'm optimistic. And if she did get it, how great would that be?! I mean, you should see all the benefits she'd be getting there. And it's basically doing what she already enjoys doing. This time, closer to her daughter & granddaughter! To be quite honest with you, the slight possibility that my mom might be able to finally start taking care of herself and not worry so much about money makes me happy. Please pray for her and send good vibes!

One Jump Ahead

Reason 295: I found out in church today the youth group has homework. We have to write in a journal throughout the week. In this journal, we write about blessings that have happened to us. It's a gratitude journal. We give thanks for all the great things that happen to us.

Summer Love

Reason 293: This is kind of weird, but I'm just excited about summer. That's kind of a cop out, I know, but I'm really just genuinely excited. I'm never excited about summer. I hate summer. Bad stuff always happens in the summer. But this year feels different. I feel lighter. More positive. Ready to go and be who I want to be. And just enjoy my time off. I dunno, maybe it's because this is the first year without summer reading hehe. Nonetheless, feels good!

Bringin' It Back!

Summer 2013

Reason 291: I have a job! My mom just told me today that her boss agreed to let me work the store over the summer, and I start Monday. How awesome is that?! I feel like I can finally actually contribute something to this family. After months of wondering if anyone would get back to me, finally a guaranteed job.

This summer has to be different. No more of that "worst time of the year" nonsense. I'm becoming more independent. And soon, I'll even be able to help with my niece. This time, it's all about me becoming the person I want to be. New Year's Resolution: In progress! Oh, that feels great!

When In Doubt

Reason 210: I don't know if you remember a few years back, when I referred to Alex Melendez as my rock. Welp, he has proved true to that statement yet again. Because after all my moping and whining and blah, he said exactly what I needed. Not what I wanted to hear. What I needed to do to get my act together. Because I didn't need the whole "I'm so sorry here let me hug you" approach. He needed the "You have control of your life, Sammy, now go and do what you have to do" speech, along with a few words of kindness. Now I feel ready to face the day! Oh how little things can make such a difference. I got this. I can do this. I will do this. And it will be brilliant.
