Elena of Avalor
Karla sent me a picture of the ceremony from Instagram during work today. Princess Elena of Avalor, Disney's first Latin princess, has been inducted into the Official Disney Princess Court. We have our first Hispanic princess.
I cried. I actually cried when I saw the picture at work. I know that probably sounds ridiculous. But I don't care. I spent SO. MANY. YEARS. Swearing up and down that there would never be a Hispanic princess. I said that Latin Americans didn't have royalty like that and so Disney may never see a purpose in making one up. At the very least, I doubted it would happen in my lifetime. But wow. I was wrong. I've never been so happy to be wrong.
I cannot express what this means to me or how important this is for young Latinas everywhere. These are such happy tears I'm shedding. Little girls will see a beautiful female leader who speaks their language and has an abuelo and an abuela just like they do. I can't believe this is real. It's happened. And I could not be more proud. I'm just going to cry forever, and I do not care. This is real magic.

Happy Memory Tears
For the past month, and especially the past week, I've had a lot of happy memory tears. I've been replaying memories in my mind over and over. And then, out of nowhere, a new one will pop up. And I'll cry. Because how could I forget that moment? How could I forget how much it mattered to me or how much it changed me? Some of the most beautiful things were said to me, or done with me. And I'm just go glad they are a part of me now.
I feel so stupid for spending a month so wrapped up in two short months of my life. But they were so amazing. Honestly. He can say he wasn't the best thing to ever happen to me and maybe he's right. But I don't think he will ever understand how much he has done for me. How blessed I am to have had him for two short months.

Never Making Promises
Reason 226: Ever get just so filled with emotion that you have to sob? Like, not sad tears or happy tears or proud tears. Just let it all out and breathe tears. Yeah, I like those. They feel great, and so relieving and comforting. You know what the best part of a show is? When all the little subplots finally connect and EVERYBODY finally knows EVERYTHING and uses all that knowledge to get to a solution. So it is with life. Getting generic answers is useful, but only for a time. Finally knowing 100% exactly the path you need to take? It's enough to make you cry :)
