July 28-30

We went North haha. After work, the weekend started with me driving to Boonsboro. It would have been much less terrifying if the rain weren't absolutely insane. But I did my best and we got there safe. Took two hours but we got there. And then Jess and I were off to New Jersey! Emily's Bridal Shower was on Saturday so naturally the bridesmaids were in attendance. We helped with what we could but honestly, Elizabeth (Emily's sister and Maid of Honor) had it all pretty under control. The party was lovely and everything was super cute and relaxed. New Jersey, or the parts I saw, was very pretty. After dropping off a load of gifts, we spent the evening at Point Pleasant, which is such a nice beach it almost made me want to go more often. And I hate beaches. The boardwalk was nice and, since it was so late, the beach itself was practically empty. It looked gorgeous. At the end of the boardwalk was a cute little aquarium. I haven't been to one since I was little so I was living my best life. There are just so many amazing animals and I'm lucky I got the chance to be so close to them. I saw the littlest terrapin and I cried. And then I kept seeing more turtles and crying. And then, in the same room basically, I saw penguins, and once I realized I had seen my two favorite animals in one place I was so happy I was lightheaded. We spent far too long in the gift shop because I didn't know what to get your dad haha. And then we drove back. The weekend was full of lots of good food, laughing at our own nonsense, and plans for the beautiful September wedding. The venue is gorgeous and I really can't wait. It's going to be such a lovely day. But as for the weekend of cupcakes, cats, and crazy conversations, I'm happy. It was a much needed trip.

Now July is over. I leave for Canada in not even four full days. I'm still a little in disbelief that it's real. But it is. And it's gonna be so great.

To The Place Where I Belong

First off, we need to talk about the S.T.A.G.E blog. Precious babies are enjoying their wonderful time in Edinburgh. I'm jelly. But also super happy for them. Reading the entries gives me joy. Partially because I'm seeing all these pictures and thinking I WENT THERE! I'VE NEVER SAID THAT BEFORE OMG. I CAN ACTUALLY SAY I'VE BEEN THERE. And mostly because this is an INSANE experience and I'm hoping that they love it and learn a lot from it. It's good for them.

Speaking of good for you. ONTO AUGUST BLOGGING!

Day 1:

• Bless these people, they really do not understand how to travel. We're so inefficient. It's so cute.
• A conversation plane ride and I'm wide awake!
• California weather is hot but oh so nice. The breeze feels lovely and there's no humidity!
• West Coast Baptist College has a beautiful campus. Not necessarily the place for me, BUT it was so nice and everyone was very sweet and accommodating.
• We caught a glimpse of Lancaster Baptist Church's Vacation Bible School and man did these guys go all out! Shows what can really be done when people put forth the effort (and money).

Day 2:

• Evangelizing! Honestly, I don't think that's where my gifts lie. But it was good to do it all the same. Especially knowing that someone's heart actually was touched and we helped someone get through a hard time. We also had some pretty AWESOME guides. 
• We had a tour of this place and it really was nice. Again, not the place for me, but anywhere is more likely to have better music resources than McDaniel. I can see why other people would certainly be very happy here. I'm glad I came because I've now seen Angelique in this environment and know that she will definitely benefit from this school.
• Also really glad that this has the little ones thinking about college. As I predicted, tour guide called me out on asking all the big questions. Good. I made the kids pay attention. And most of them seemed to decide that this was not the place for them BUT they certainly have an idea of what to look for. I've planted a seed. Hallelu!

Day 3:

• BEACH. Mind you, I don't love the beach. At all. Far from it. But the weather was so nice and the view was pretty sweet and these people just had my laughing the whole time. 
• Service. I learned to plant a seed and shine my light. I think everyone who goes to church hears this once in a while. I can't describe it or reiterate it as the guest pastor did. But his personal experiences and stories, as well as his wording and evident love and kindness just touched me. It made it obvious to me how much my testimony and the impression I leave really mean. We even got to speak to him and his beautiful wife afterwards. I seriously love how kind people here are.
• More kindness. We found an old friend of Hermana Delmi's after the service. He and his wife were lovely and funny and automatically showed us so much kindness. They even invited us to dinner at In n Out Burger! It's a thing. I've finally tried it. Check that off the list.

 Day 4:

• Six Flags all day
• We actually did have a lot of fun. Again. Not so much because of the activity. It really was just because of the people I shared the day with.
• I took a picture with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Foghorn Leghorn!
• So much Harley Quinn and Superman stuff everywhere. I was a happy girl.

Day 5:

• We're still really bad at this airport thing. But we have improved significantly.
• All our seats are separated. I am placed next to a kind older gentleman who is actually very funny. He talks to me about how much he hates So Cal and just prefers Virginia. How his family is from the city, and how he left his parent's home at a very early age (as opposed to kids from our group), and now he and his wife live in the country! We spoke about food, tourism, attractions, his daughter, and college. It was very pleasant.
• Right as the plane started moving, a stewardess explained to me that some girl near the front was very distraught about her seating arrangements and was hoping to trade seats with me (I'm assuming it had something to do with family). So instead of being alone in the 22nd row, I was alone in the 8th row. This time, however, I was sitting in Economy Plus. More leg room! 'Cause I totally need that, right? Haha. I also sat between two pregnant women who were both very sweet and would joke every now and again with each other. Overall, I'm hapyp witht he flight. Didn't sleep so I'm exhausted. But I'm happy.
• Now I'm home. And I'm so so so so so glad of it. (Also. Finally saw new RWBY episode. SO GOOD)

Every day all the time:

• Very personal moments with these wonderful people. Moments that helped me learn where the people I cared about were in their lives. Stories about our pasts. Jokes about the future. Absolutely idiotic moments. Advice and prayer. And so much understanding. And an overarching feeling of love that I truly needed.

California, Here We Come

WOW. It's been a while since I've written here. And that's completely not okay. Not sure if this is the BEST idea 'cause I know I'll be very busy soon. But I'm deciding right now that (sans the 1st and 2nd where I am without computer), I will write an entry every day for the month of August. Like the old days! Get back in the swing of things. My life could use it :)

I'm writing today because tomorrow morning, at 4AM to be exact, I'm headed to the airport! And then I will be on a flight towards LAX. I will be spending the remainder of this week in West Coast Baptist College with my youth group. This is bittersweet, admittedly. I don't know why, probably because there's a lot of ways this could go. But I'm positive! It'll be a good experience for me. Plus, I leave home all the time, and I already know what dorm life is like. This will be a breeze. It'll be nice and warm and we will all have an incredible experience. Sure, I'll have lots of episodes and videos to catch up on -sigh- but that's completely okay. I'm gonna make the most of this crazy time. I'm not even so excited about the destination. California is okay, but it doesn't amaze me. And again, I know college life. I'm more so excited for the blessing this could be in my life and the lives of my friends. Speaking of, I'm pretty sure some of the younger ones are gonna be looking at this school in the future and will just think "ooh pretty campus, I'll apply here!". So the little Upward Bound goody two shoes that I hid somewhere in my distant memory is probably gonna come back out and start asking about visitations, library hours, class sizes, parking, meal plans, etc. Ahh. College tours. I have not missed you haha. Pray for me. Wish me luck. I'll see you in a few days <3

England & Wales

A Brief Overview of the Greatest Trip of my Life

• While on the plane, I can't sleep. Merp. Listen to music and watch movies.
• As we fly over London, "The City" by The 1975 plays. Perfection.
• WE SAW MARIAH and got her for a solid 4 days. I love that girl so much.
• Jetlag is real. Toilets are weird. England is expensive. There are sheep everywhere. The grass is so flipping green. Every inch of this country is beautiful.
• Stonehenge. It's so cool. And so mysterious. I loved it. But I for one believe rocks are made to be sat upon. No one seemed to agree with me.
• BATH (hometown of Charlie McDonnell haha fangirl mode on)
• The Francis Hotel in Bath is LEGIT. Best hotel of the whole trip. Stay there.
• Cathedral of Bath
• Sick on Day 2, way to go Sammy!
• Roman Baths. Healing waters man. And so many Roman ruins!!!
• Glastonbury Abbey aka the largest Abbey in Europe before it fell to ruin, thank you Henry and the Austen family. The walls still have some color. The building was massive. And we found out tons about the monks that lived there. Carvings are a motif in literally every building we entered. It also may or may not be the burial place of King Arthur
• Wells Cathedral. Probably my favorite building we entered the whole trip. SO absolutely stunning. Beautiful stained glass, giant chapel, hilarious carvings, unique scissor arches, awesome organ, wonderful choir room, THE COOLEST CLOCK I'VE EVER SEEN, and even a beautiful street where the members of the choir live.
• The Tor. Didn't actually get to climb to the Tor, just climbed the hill. But that view <3
• Peter Pan Panto. Hilarious. And so many references. I died!
• History tour of Bath. Such a great city.
• CARDIFF
• Cardiff Castle. Ruined building, with only maybe 3 rooms still intact. An impressive war time tunnel, spooky and fun! And a tower with 100 steps. Great climb, but not the best view thanks to the rainy weather.
• Jack & the Beanstalk Panto OMG. Best panto ever. The fairy was HILARIOUS. Great music choices. Set as legit. That giant amazed me. Great dancers. Precious children. And I WANT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE COSTUMES. Also, the villain? Fleshcreep? Ugh. New dream role haha
• Millenium Stadium. So big! So cool! It made me want to watch Rugby.
• Doctor Who Experience. LEGIT.  We drove the Tardis and got caught by Daleks and walked through a cemetery filled with Walking Angels and UGH so cool. Matt Smith pretty much MADE the whole thing (recordings, not actual Matt Smith). Museum filled with old sets and props and costumes and suits. And a fantastic gift shop.
• STRATFORD
• Royal Shakespeare Company. Tour of the theatre as well as an acting work shop HOLY CRAP I want to work there. I wish. The costumes and stage and set and lighting instruments and sound system and fly system and wig/make-up professionals and I just cannot deal. I want it to badly.
• Tour of Stratford upon Avon. Saw basically all the major places in Shakespeare's life, including the church he's buried in. Everything is so old and so pretty! Saw Anne Hathaway's cottage. Everything in England is so small! All the doors and beds are my size! The last part of Anne Hathaway's cottage had a little bulletin board where couples would write the stories of how they fell in love. So many of them were of people who did theatre together :)
• Warwick Castle. The princess tower was only for kids ages 3-8. Heart. BROKEN. But they had a bunch of other awesome towers and tunnels and attractions and gift shops and bird shows. There were peacocks just walking around all over the grounds like it was nothing. It was more like they turned an old castle into a theme park. I wish there was a bit more history, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
• If you ever get the chance to see Wendy & Peter Pan do it. It's not at all what I thought it would be. It's so dark and different and good. Whether or not you liked it, you cannot walk out of that auditorium without truly feeling something. It was pretty mind-boggling. I could rant about that show for the rest of my life, truly I could.
• OXFORD
• Oxford University College tour. Meh. Oxford. To big. Too fancy. Too cold! And a lot like Hogwarts.
• Lunch at the pub where C.S.Lewis &Tolkein went to every Tuesday!
• ENTER LONDON. Look for famous people everywhere like the fangirls we are haha
• First time on a double decker bus, touring London. We walk on the London Bridge We see the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Fleet Street (there was actually a barber shop there omg), Leister Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covenant Garden, Totem Court, Trafalgar Square, Kings Cross, just omg everything. 
• Buckingham Palace. SO BIG AND PRETTY AND HORSES AND GUARDS AND AH! Cristina will be there some day ^_^ haha
• Saw One Man Two Governors. I don't know if I could ever sit through it again, but I definitely laughed until my whole body hurt and had a blast of a time.
• British museum. The history. So impressive. So many cultures that just leave you in absolute awe. And some of those exhibits. WTF England. "Hey that trip to Rome was fun!" "Yeah, but what should we take as a souvenir?" "Hmm, good question. I dunno, how about THIS TEMPLE?!"
• Royal Theatre on Drury Lane. Oldest theatre in West End. Over 500 ghosts. So. Pretty. So impressive. And they have a room for when the "King" visits. Except, there is no King, so now the Queen & the Princes use it. Also apparently Michael Jackson used it.
• National Gallery. You're gonna love the art.
• EFFING BACKSTAGE PASS INTO LES MISERABLES. I STOOD ON THAT STAGE. I could've cried. Seriously. Looking into that audience from the turntable was so overwhelming. I couldn't believe it. Also, we were accompanied by Anton (Enjolras) who I know form his youtube channel so while all the girls were smitten and in love I was like LOL dibs, as well as Rob (Marius) who is just the most precious baby. All thanks to our friend Cait who knows Scott Allen and got us the hook-up. Seriously, I can never thank her enough.
• Les Mis was Les Mis. But I loved it all. I so enjoyed watching everyone perform. All the songs are stuck in my head. I want a recording of specifically that performance (except I want the real Fantine cause we got the understudy and she wasn't that great). Also. Umm. Carrie was phenomonal.
• She gets her own bullet. Oh my Lord. I love her. I'm so happy for her. There she was. Carrie Hope Fletcher (don't act like you don't know, I talk about her on this blog all the time).  Performing her soul out. She does this everyday. She lives her dream everyday. She lives MY DREAM everyday. I couldn't be more proud. And I was so scared that I wouldn't like her. That I'd finally see her perform and think "wow, she can't act". But she was easily one of the best performers on that stage. And that's not just me being biased, the people I asked in my class agreed with me. Ugh. I love her.
• I met her. I met Carrie Hope Fletcher. I ACTUALLY. MET HER. And I it wasn't much to her. I mean it was because she loves meeting her Hopefuls and knowing she's made a difference. But to me. It was EVERYTHING. Best part of the whole trip. I seriously could not have been happier or more excited. I almost cried afterwards. She's smaller than I thought she'd be! And she's just so sweet. I'm so lucky I love such a wonderful person.
• RIDING THE TUBE! AHHH! I'm such a tourist.
• Original site of The Globe theatre and a tour of the new one. Ah! So cool. And authentic!
• Tate Modern. All the art.
• Millenium Bridge! Important for reasons!
• St. Paul's. Entry was 16 pounds. Umm no not about that life. That's too many American dollars to enter a church. But I'm so bitter and regret that decision because I adore churches, really truly.
• Guild Hall. QUITE the impressive building. With sides for "Ayes" and "Noes". We also saw more art! And ruins of the Roman Amphitheater, cool cool cool!
• Fortune's Fool at the Old Vic Theatre. Meh. Russian Comedy.
• Now I'm home. I'm back home. I'm in the USA. It's not nearly as pretty here. But I'm in my own bed and I have my mommy to make me healthy again and I get to see my sister and my niece and eat homecooked meals and not worry about which way to look when crossing the road because PEOPLE DRIVE ON THE RIGHT SIDE and I'm home and it's wonderful.

Thank you. Thank you, Lord, for all of these incredible memories. I wouldn't trade them for anything. And now we beg for money because I have to buy 12 textbooks for next semester and I'm kinda broke.

Tidings of Joy

So any day where I spend time with my incredible family and my beautiful niece is automatically amazing. I got my nails done and I wore my new favorite shirt. I chatted with some relatives about my major, and my cousin seemed to be incredibly supportive. Like. REALLY. And another one was talking about her daughter, who liked to dance and sing, and she said her daughter would "probably follow Sammy and go the performance route, which I would love." Honestly, ALL performers know the risk of this business, and are fully aware that they hav like .006% chance of making it. You really can't get mad when someone hates on you for following that dream because, let's be so real, they're probably right. But SUPPORT? UGH. Nothing feels as good.

SPEAKING OF FOLLOWING THEATRE. There's a Jan term (class for 2 weeks during winter break. McDaniel requires you to take at least one before graduation). A theatre tour through England and Wales. Touring historic locations. Seeing professional shows. Staying at some wonderful hotels and eating at cool restaurants. Touring through London. Globe Theatre. Roman ruins. Shakespeare's birthplace and Anne Hathaway's cottage. Cathedrals. Just to name a few things. AND, special feature available only this year. Tour at BBC, "Doctor Who Experience". My school is amazing. My professor is amazing. And my dad said he's helping me pay for it. I could've cried. I'm so happy. I don't know if it's for sure yet. It IS a lot of money. But. Oh my goodness. I'm so close.

Reason 235 Disney Day Two:

• Bright and early! Start off at Epcot! With -gasp- what is this for breakfast? A cheese danish? :O Oh yeah, today is a great day.
• Flower & Gardens Festival! Pretty flowers EVERYWHERE. Butterflies too!
• "Electric Umbrella" restaurant will never stop being amusing
• Living With the Land. So cute. Dunno if I'd do it again, but cute. One thing I learned: Epcot has the potential to make the BEST fruit salad. Ever. Of all time.
• Soarin'. Oh my gosh, if I were not scared of heights I would book a trip to go hang-gliding right now. That was AWESOME. Everything looked so cool! It was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved feeling the breeze. I think Eric would really love that ride.
• MouseGears. HUGE. Store. I want everything.
• The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I LOVED being able to see all the Nemo characters again. They are all wonderful. And it is such a sweet story, with such beautiful animation and music.  
• Aquarium! ALL THE FISHIES!
• TurtleTalk. Maybe it's because of Karla, but I'm obsessed with the cuteness that is these children. Actually. And talking to Crush is legit.
• Journey Into the Imagination with Figment. So well done. And cutely creative. I am proud of Disney every day.
• Mission: SPACE. I was a navigator ^_^ It felt really cool!! But I don't think I'd be able to handle the intense level of that. Yay Green Team! All about the easy mode.
• TestTrack. Car. Fast. Cool. But. Car. Fast.... I think I just need to stay away from "Driving" situations for a while.
• COUNTRIES!
• "Who is that? Is it Cinderella? No.. I can't tell who that princess is. I can't remember her name!" .... Aurora. Sleeping Beauty. Briar Rose. Take your pick. "Sleeping Beauty?" "No, that's not it." XD
• Eating around the world
• Let's stay in Japan. Best food and OMG THIS STORE HAS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED. ANIMEEEEEE AND HELLO PANDA COOKIESSSS
• FUNNEL CAKE!
• The amount of kids playing the search for Perry thing, using their phones to find clues. It warms me so.
• 3 Caballeros ride. I will forever LOVE that movie. And hate the idiot in the boat who actually said "Arrrrrriba!!" No to you. Stahp.
• Spaceship Earth. aka the Epcot ball. It's so COOL. I want blue prints for that place. Truly.
• OFF TO NEVERLAND (MGM) HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS!
• Tower of Terror! Sorta. Yeah right, me? Pssshh. I just went through the line to see how they decorated the building. And oh yeah, so worth it. And then I went back down in a REAL elevator. With a bellhop lady who was pretty cool. I told her the Kowaleski family had been to Disney at least 40 times and her jaw legit dropped. I giggled. I should've told her my friend's name was Storm. Hah!
• Star Tours? Yes. I love R2D2, my little hispanic robot. That was honestly so cool. Love to that dad who actually looked his kind in the eye at the gift shop and said "We can get Star Wars stuff, ANYWHERE"
• Muppets 3D. I love Ms. Piggy & Beaker forever and always.
• The Great Movie Ride. I AM GOING TO TAKE KARLA & BABYGIRL ON THAT RIDE. And every movie she says, "What movie is that?" to, we will watch once we get home.
• So. Many. Lines.
• That line for Fantasmic. Mmmm. You bet we got there early. And had the dumbest time laughing about absolutely everything and scolding each other for being ridiculous and telling each other stupid relationship stories. That may be my favorite part of the night.
• People watching while the rain drizzles and delays the show.
• Kid behind us with the cheesily cute parents. Kid in front of us who would not sit still. Neither would his mother. Kid walking up the stairs while his mommy holds his hand and says, "If they cancel it, Mommy's going to be mad, so we're just going to leave." Chick who got the entire audience to do the wave while we waited. Except Storm of course. -sigh- no optimism that one. We balance I guess?
• FANTASMIC. SO. GOOD. I CAN'T HANDLE MY EMOTIONS EVERY TIME.
• Storm gets us semi-lost, refusing to ask for directions because HE KNOWS DISNEY. Such a boy. At least he eventually got us where we needed to be.
• Cute hispanic tourist family asking for help. YAY! I SERVE PURPOSE!
• Hair is a frizzy mess. Absolutely awful. Why am I in public right now? Because I want food. And only Storm knows where he is taking me.
• DOWNTOWN DISNEY. Once again, needs. Buy. All the things. LOL what is money? How do I economy? 
• Go eat at Irish restaurant and it's close to 11... we didn't think that one through. Hah. All the drinking fools. Entertaining to watch. Storm people watches and I listen to the band. And that one lady does NOT. STOP. SCREAMING. I'm tempted to go up to her and ask in a very Disney voice, "And what are YOU celebrating today?"
• Get on the bus back to the hotel. Strike of 12, the bus is stopped at Pleasure Island. Happy Birthday Storm.
• Hotel. For the 2nd night, Storm does not know where he is going. According to his mom, it's a straight shot from the food court. -snicker-
• Room. Dead.

If he didn't like the present, he at least pretended to. My legs are about to fall off. I honestly look AWFUL. But you know what? Every flippin' second of it was worth it. So happy I can't contain it. I love this place. With this family. And this weather. It's all perfect.

Reason 234 Disney Day One:

• Disney All-Star Sports Resort. Why so gorgeous? And so big. This is a hotel?! I get to sleep here?! What?!?! The towels are shaped like a mouse. I quit. Already perfect.
• Animal Kingdom. So warm. So nice. All kinds of pretty. Tree of Life! Ahh!
• Safari! I got to see the aminals :) 
• Take pictures with Pooh!!! And Eeyore!!! And Tigger!!!
• Look for ALL the Zebra things (yay Alpha Psi)
• Leave for Magic Kingdom. ON A PRETTY BOAT.
• Castle. So pretty. Oh gosh. I can't.
• PARADE! WITH ALL THE DISNEY CHARACTERS! OH GOSH THE TEARS START SO EARLY. But hey, it's all good 'cause Aladdin blew kisses at us. That's what's up.
• Man if I looked the part I could totally work here. I'd be so flippin' smiley.
• Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. SHOOT EVERYTHING! ZURG IS SO COOL.
• PeopleMover! Cute little tour of Tomorrowland. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
• Pirates of the Caribbean. Hooray for the classic rides. How I love it.
• Mad Tea Party! More classic rides! Finally! It's too fun! 
• Jungle Cruise. Oh my gosh so many cheesy puns and jokes. I can't tell you how happy this made me.
• Magic Carpets of Aladdin. I love these types of rides! And a camel spit water at us haha refreshing for such a hot day. BUT I'LL TAKE THE HEAT! YAY FLORIDA!
• Big Thunder Mountain. Apparently the wimpiest of all Disney rides. So I got on. HOORAY FOR BEING ALIVE. But seriously, coasters aren't my thing. I'm sticking to teacups and parades.
• Haunted Mansion. Always SO COOL. Storm has theories about this place. 
• New Fantasyland. OMG EVERYTHING BEAUTY AND THE BEAST IS SO PERFECT. I CAN'T GET OVER THE DETAILS. THAT GIFT SHOP. dead.
• Gaston!!! But we couldn't take a picture. The line was closed because he had "to go work out". Typical haha
• Ariel's castle is so pretty :)
• TANGLED HAS THE BEST BATHROOMS OMG SO PRECIOUS
• Stitch's Great Escape. I absolutely adore this movie. And hope that, somehow, they manage to always advertise it.
• Laugh Floor. (Monster's Inc). OH MY GOODNESS did I love this place. Corny jokes and audience participation. All about that life.
• Electrical Parade. ALWAYS fun.
• 50 Years of Animation. Nope. Not even apologizing for my tears. Too much perfect.

I was stupid tired when I came back. But honestly? It was crazy kinds of worth it. And Stormy was a good sport and held my hand through the scary stuff. Plus, catching up was really something I needed. College changes all of us, of course, but I'm glad some of my best friend is still there :)
